Edo guber: “A vote for APC is a vote for more poverty” – PDP chieftain warns residents

The Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council for the upcoming September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Mathew Iduoriyemkewen, has strongly criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that a vote for the APC is a vote for increased poverty.

He made the remarks on Friday in Benin during the inauguration of the Deputy Director-General of the party’s campaign council on religious organizations and cultural affairs, Osagie Erhunmwunse.

Iduoriyemkewen said, “Anyone that is voting for APC is voting for more poverty. This is because they don’t have any plan for the government.”

He urged the people of Edo State to unite to eradicate poverty, starting from their state.

“We should not allow the suffering in Nigeria to continue. We should all continue our political evangelism. This is a fight for our survival as a people of Edo State,” he added.

In his acceptance speech, Osagie Erhunmwunse acknowledged the PDP’s recognition of Edo State’s diverse religions, underscoring the party’s commitment beyond mere governance.

He expressed confidence in the party’s candidates, Barrister Asue Ighodalo and Barrister Osarodion Ogie, describing them as competent, tested, and trusted leaders.

“These men are no strangers to the economic and political challenges of Edo State. And so for us, going to sell these candidates fills us with enthusiasm because we are going to sell a product we totally believe in,” Erhunmwunse stated.

On his part, the Chairman of PDP in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, said: “We enjoin you to join hands with PDP to reduce the suffering in the land by voting for our candidate.”
