Focus on Rebuilding APC, NWC Member Begs President Tinubu

......... says party leaders are uncountable to party affairs

A member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Salihu Lukman, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to focus on rebuilding the party, citing unaccountability and dictatorship by party leaders.

Lukman, who stated this in a statement on Friday in Abuja, noted that the party’s affairs under the leadership of Senator Abdullahi Senator Omisore is being run as a garrison commander.

He stressed that the leadership of Adamu, APC is in contempt of its rules and relates with his colleagues in the NWC just like his appointees.

His words:

“We sadly have in our hands an APC, which is in contempt of its own rules led by a determined and decidedly conservative, reactionary, and undemocratic leadership who are opposed to allowing any form of internal accountability to party organs and members.

“Consequently, the APC has been reduced to only an election vehicle, like other parties in the country.

“To the disappointment of many founding members of the party and Nigerians, almost all the undemocratic practices associated with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), such as the imposition of candidates, are now common in APC.”

Lukman further explained that the functions of the National Convention in between national conventions’ has not been meeting quarterly as provided under the APC constitution.

He opined that APC members would have had more substantial power in managing the affairs of the platform, and most of the challenges facing the party could have been resolved if they had been meeting as stipulated.
