Hardship: 1,000 widows to get N50,000 each as philanthropist unveils empowerment program

Renowned activist Dr. Chima Amadi has announced an empowerment program targeting 1,000 widows in Ngor Okpala, Imo State.

Each widow will receive a N50,000 cash grant, aimed at alleviating the current economic hardship in the country.

Organisers of the empowerment programme say it is part of Dr. Amadi’s N200 million Annual Yuletide Philanthropy under the Jude and Juliana Foundation.

Scheduled for December 31st, the program is a highlight of the foundation’s month-long activities, which include sports tournaments, scholarships, small business grants, and health insurance interventions.

Speaking on the program, Dr. Amadi said, “This initiative goes beyond charity. It’s a movement to inspire, empower, and unite our community.

“From sports to scholarships, from health to economic empowerment, this is about building a legacy of collective progress.”

He noted that the widows’ empowerment program aligns with his commitment to grassroots development and community well-being.

Beyond cash donations, the initiative also includes scholarships for students, grants for small businesses, and health coverage for vulnerable families.

This year’s program builds on his previous efforts, which garnered widespread praise for transforming lives in Ngor Okpala and beyond.

Earlier this year, in August, Dr. Amadi made headlines for his contributions to the August Meeting, a celebrated annual gathering of women in southeastern Nigeria that promotes development and unity.
