How FG frustrated negotiations with #EndSARS protesters – Aisha Yesufu

A Nigerian socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu has revealed how the federal government frustrated negotiations with #EndSARS protesters.

Speaking in an interview on Sunday, the co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement said the protesters were ready to dialogue with the government but they ruined the peace talks by giving different excuses.

She asked the government to stop blaming the protesters for not having recognized leaders, adding that it was the Nigerian government that didn’t have leadership. She noted that up till now, the government has failed to meet the protesters’ demands.

Yesufu disclosed that the two weeks nationwide peaceful protest was not hijacked by hoodlums as claimed by the government, rather it was the politicians that sent thugs to attack the demonstrators. She also berated the Nigeria Police Force for failing to protect the protesters from hoodlums’ attack.

Reacting to the freezing of the bank accounts linked to #EndSARS promoters by the Central Bank of Nigeria, Yesufu condemned the action, describing it as dictatorial and irrational.

  1. That’s the true narration of the before and after #ENSARS! Buhari’s attitude and that of his military/police, only serves as requisite ingredients for a Sahel spring. In the same vein that Zulum’s comments is self serving, government of all creed ought to know that protests on their own don’t lead to revolution/Arab – Sahel spring, rather it’s the attitude/response of the government towards their legitimate demands.
