How Wike deceived G5 into believing he was supporting Obi – Bwala

A spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Daniel Bwala, has said Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State deceived his G5 colleagues.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that according to Bwala, Wike gave the impression that he was supporting Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, but was secretly backing Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been enmeshed in crisis after the party’s national convention in May 2022 where former Vice President Atiku Abubakar defeated 12 other aspirants, including Wike to emerge the party presidential candidate for 2023 elections.

Dissatisfied with the outcome of the primary, a group of five PDP governors (G5) demanded the replacement of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu with a southerner to correct “regional imbalance” in the PDP since Messrs Atiku and Ayu are both northerners.

Apart from Wike, other governors who are members of the G5 are Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwanyi (Enugu), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) and Seyi Makinde (Oyo).

The G5 governors, who were appointed into the PDP presidential campaign council, withdrew their membership, boycotted its inauguration and shunned PDP presidential campaign activities.

“He (Wike) made them (his colleagues) believe that he was behind Peter Obi. So, he can’t openly come out now to declare support for the APC candidate because the other four governors do not want Tinubu,” Bwala told Punch in a report published on Saturday.

      1. Wike I trust u. True Nigerian power must shift to s/w. by the grace of God and for the unity of the country. Sai jagaban

  1. Thank you Mr Story teller , Wike didn’t betrayed anyone, rather he stands on the existing collective unanimous agreement reached by all the Southerners Governors that Presidency should come to the South, of which basis your newest principal Atiku fought GEJ to stand still in 2014 and later supported his fellow Fulani Northerner Buhari to send GEJ packing on the alibi of fighting for the turn of the North.

Now, when it is the turn of the South; your principal again is still fighting for the perpetuating of the North to remain in power; Wike knows , backing Obi is indirectly paveway for Atiku presidency as the entire North will not vote for Obi. and if Atiku by any chance get to Aso Rock, he will smote Wike life , only a neophyte politicians would back obi that has no chance in the North ( did you see any heavyweight political leaders in the South East where Obi comes from , particularly the Governors backing Obi ? would it not be a suicide for a wise political leader, Governor for that matter to make that mistake of supporting Obi ?)

You are pained that Wike did not played into the hand of Atiku

  2. Wike is a mature politician. He knows who is most likely to win the forthcoming election and who can win but would never win the election so far Nigerian presidency is concerned. I bet you Wike knows better.

  3. Let the pendulum of winning the forthcoming election swings elsewhere, repair the four refineries, stop importation of PM’s that gave birth to illicit dollars swindling of invisible subsidy. President Buhari should forthwith exercise his executive power to sack Emefiele and other invisible bank executives responsible for hoarding the newly redesigned naira, arrest bank officials responsible for the Hawking of Naira notes and the it’s street hawkers. Sack Custom officials responsible for the exportation of PMS at Nigeria borders. Surely, all Nigerians will be at peace.

    1. Sack Emefiele?
      For what reason exactly?
The moment you understand that the naira is being redesigned to implement cashless policy, the better for you
