The newly appointed Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda has restated her commitment towards improving the live of girls and women across Nigeria.
Speaking while hosting the Swedish Ambassador to Nigeria, Annika Hahn-Englund, the speaker said as a woman in the legislative arm of government, she remains committed to fostering impactful collaborations and advancing policies that empower women and children.
In a post shared on her X account, Meranda said Hahn-Englund was at her office on a courtesy visit on Monday, February 10.
She said they discussed vital partnerships aimed at achieving the 2030 SDG agenda with a focus on gender equality, protecting the rights of the girl child among others.
She also stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening the bilateral trade relations between Lagos state and the Swedish government.
She stated, Additionally, we explored opportunities for exchange programs between the Swedish Parliament and the Lagos State House of Assembly.
“As a woman in the legislative arm of government, I remain committed to fostering impactful collaborations and advancing policies that empower women and children. Together, we can build a better, more inclusive future,” Meranda added.
