IPOB/ESN: Police clamps down on secessionist activities in S/East

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, has disclosed that more Police Special Operational Units and Assets have been deployed to the South-East region to strengthen the anti-secessionist operation in the zone, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

Speaking during a meeting with Strategic Police managers (CPs, AIGs and DIGs) in Abuja on Thursday, the IGP also noted that the Police headquarters has re-invigorated the ‘Operation Safer Highway’ with the injection of more patrol vehicles and officers across the country to tackle insecurity.

Killings and kidnappings by the so-called ‘Unknown Gunmen’ and militants of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are still being reported daily. Just like Boko Haram used to occupy territories, certain parts of Anambra and adjoining parts of Imo State are allegedly ruled by some IPOB proponents.

The situation has escalated to the level that leaders from across the country are deeply worried.
