‘It’s witch-hunt’ – Emefiele’s Tribesmen Condemn Suspension of Ex-CBN Governor

A group of professionals from the suspended Central Bank Of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele’s hometown, Agbo, has described his recent ordeal as political witch-hunt.

The Agbor Professionals Business Group condemned the suspension of Emefiele, stating that the decision will not help the stability of the country’s financial sector.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Tony Ugbejie, the group recalled the disturbing pattern of suspension of CBN governors could affect the country’s economic stability.

The group noted that such action by President Bola Tinubu could affect the direct foreign investment to the country.

The Agbor group tasked the government to carryout its investigation fairly and make findings known to the public.

The group urged Nigerians to remain calm assuring them that Emefiele would come clean of all the allegations.

Politics Nigeria recalls that the Department of State Service had accused Emefiele of sponsoring terrorism, the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other criminal groups in the country.

Emefiele has, however, dismissed all allegations by the secret police.
