Less than 60 days to the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, 17,299 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have defected to the main opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the defection was recorded on Sunday in Silame Local Government Area (LGA) on Sunday.
Also, Saidu Umar, the PDP governorship flag-bearer in Sokoto State took his campaign to the local government.
Umar described the two-term administration of Governor Aminu Tambuwal as a good omen for Sokoto State.
Assuring the electorate of his determination to key into the development projects initiated by the Tambuwal administration if elected as governor next month, Mallam Umar promised to execute the Rundi-Katami-Silame road project for the benefit of the people.
He further pledged to look at the issue of the Surame Monument to enhance the revenue generation drive of not only the local government but the state as a whole.
