JUST IN: APC, Obaseki react as UI confirms certificate

A faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state and Governor Godwin Obaseki have reacted to the confirmation of the governor’s University degree by the University of Ibadan.

POLITICS NIGERIA had reported that the management of UI in a statement by its Registrar, Olubunmi Faluyi, on Wednesday, said the governor graduated from the institution where he studied Classics.

“Obaseki gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.

“Records of his Admission and Graduation are intact in the archives of the University,” Faluyi said.

Reacting to the development on Twitter after the confirmation, Obaseki mocked those who had expressed doubt over the authenticity of his certificate.

He wrote: “Posterity will always vindicate the just.”

Also, the factional Chairman of the APC in Edo state, Anslem Ojezua, says the confirmation of the degree has shamed all those who have been doubting that the governor never graduated from the University.

He noted that the clearance from UI has strengthened the integrity of Governor Obaseki.

He said: “This is not a case of Toronto or Chicago. UI is not a University that you just walk into and graduate.

“It just takes about three hours from Benin to go to the University and verify if you are in doubt or visit the internet.”
