JUST IN: APC Suspends Igalamela/Odolu LG Executives in Kogi, Gives Reasons

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has suspended the entire executive officers of all wards in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the party accuses them of engaging in anti-party activities and financial inducement to undermine the party’s strength in the state.

The suspension and dissolution of the executive teams were announced in a statement issued on Saturday by Joshua Onoja, the Kogi APC State Secretary.

The statement expresses concern over the violation of the party’s constitution by the ward and local government executives, who are expected to uphold the party’s principles.

The statement reads, “The Kogi State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress has received disturbing reports of gross violation of the party’s constitution by ward and local government executives, who ordinarily should be the custodians of the sanctity of our party’s constitution. Allegations of anti-party activities and financial inducement to weaken the party have been substantiated, leading to serious investigations of some party executives.”

The party’s leadership sternly warns the dismissed officers against assuming their former roles as executives.

The statement emphasises, “Caretaker committees will be immediately established to manage the party’s affairs, pending a full report from the investigative committee. Officials from the wards to the local government level in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area are hereby directed to submit party materials in their possession to the state secretariat in Lokoja and cease operating as executives, effective from today, 19th May 2023.”
