JUST IN: Crisis hits PDP in Imo as members clash over Atiku’s Campaign Council [PHOTOS]

A Fresh crisis has hit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo state over the constitution of a Campaign Council for its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the state.

It was gathered that Supporters of the National Secretary of the Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu clashed with Supporters of Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha.

The crisis which has been silently brewing for some weeks degenerated to a full blown fracas on Sunday, 13th of November during a stakeholders meeting at the Party Secretariat in Owerri.

Trouble started after Ihedioha stood up and announced himself as the Chairman of the Campaign Council and announced his former deputy, Gerald Irona as the deputy chairman of the council.

Several members stood up in uproar rejecting the development with some claiming that as ‘Governorship aspirant’ cannot also be the chairman of the Presidential Campaign council as it was against the Party Constitution.

Further Checks revealed that the Elders Council, Board of Trustee members of the party in the state as well as other critical stakeholders boycotted the meeting.

This development is coming amidst a major crisis already bewitching the party as it can be recalled that Atiku has been at loggerheads with Nyesom Wike and 4 other Governors.
