JUST IN: “He’s fine” – Detained Niger President Seen By His Doctor

Niger’s President Mohamed Bazoum, who has been held in detention by his own guard since last month’s ousting, have received a medical evaluation.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this was made known on Saturday by sources within his entourage.

The President, along with his wife and son, who are also detained, were visited by a physician who not only assessed their health but also provided them with food.

Sources close to Bazoum reported that he is stable, given the circumstances.

He’s fine, given the situation,” the source said.

Concerns have been mounting over the well-being and confinement conditions of the democratically elected leader and his family ever since the military seized control and took them into custody on July 26th.

Human rights organisation Human Rights Watch had revealed that it spoke with Bazoum during the past week. According to them, the 63-year-old former President described the treatment of himself, his wife, and his son as both “inhuman and cruel.”

CNN, in a report, said Bazoum has been subjected to isolation and compelled to consume dry rice and pasta.
