The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, is meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss the ongoing strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the meeting came hours after NARD announced a “total and indefinite strike action” on Tuesday night.
In an earlier meeting on Tuesday, Abbas had urged the doctors to suspend their strike and give the House of Representatives two weeks to find solutions to the issues raised by the association.
He also made a commitment to meet with Tinubu to discuss the situation further.
Abbas also gave the President an overview of the house’s earlier meeting with NARD leadership.
NARD is demanding the payment of salaries and allowances owed to resident doctors, as well as the implementation of an agreement reached with the government in 2014.
