Raph Uwazuruike, the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said that the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra will bring some level of peace and stability across states of the Southeast region.
Speaking at the 13th Memorial Anniversary of the late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu in Owerri on Tuesday, November 26, the MASSOB leader urged the Federal Government of Nigeria to release Kanu.
Uwazuruike, who is the organiser of the event said the Southeast has recorded unprecedented violence and turmoil which he said can be curbed with Kanu’s release.
He added that Ojukwu’s memorial services aims at commemorating the late Biafran warlord’s legacies as well as all the ideologies he stood for.
He said, “All the good things he (late Ojukwu) stood for will not be forgotten”.
In his address, a guest speaker at the event, Protus Uzorma said Ojukwu was an embodiment of the Igbo race.
According to Uzorma, the late Ojukwu as an Igbo leader “solidified the Igboland and made it to be a peaceful place until his death”.
While stating that with peace in the region development would be assured, Uzorma urged all the Igbo people to unite.
