The Kebbi State House of Assembly has elected Mohammed Usman Ankwai as the Speaker of the House.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this was made on Thursday during a session at the assembly following the dissolution and inauguration of the new house.
In addition to Ankwai’s appointment, Samaila Ahmed Bambu from Bagudo East was selected as the Deputy Speaker.
During the announcement of the house leadership, Alhaji Sulaiman Shamaki, the clerk of the house, took the opportunity to urge Governor Idris to provide financial autonomy to the state legislature.
The event was graced by the presence of party dignitaries, former and current high-ranking government officials, as well as a large number of enthusiastic party supporters.
