JUST IN: NADECO warns Fubara over implementation of Tinubu’s 8-point resolution

A US-based pro-democracy group, the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) USA, has sent a serious warning to Rivers state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, over the implementation of the eight-point resolution with FCT minister Nyesom Wike.

Politics Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu had supervised the signing of a controversial eight-point resolution between Governor Fubara and Wike following the political crisis in River State.

The signing of the document has been generating mixed reactions from stakeholders both within and outside the country with the most recent by NADECO-USA.

In a statement by its publicity secretary, Comrade David Adenakan, the group insisted that the recent truce over the political crisis between Governor Fubara and Wike portends a bleak political and economic future for the state.

It described as regrettable a situation where certain political actors were “unwittingly” beating a drumbeat of crisis capable of grounding Rivers and Nigeria in general.

While reacting to the development, NADECO however, stated that the crisis in Rivers State transcends tribal and ethnic divides.

“The conflict revolves around the people of Rivers State uniting against the perceived tyranny of one individual who sees himself as an emperor. This struggle is a battle between good and evil, democracy versus anti-democratic principles, and the pursuit of good governance against political machinations,” the group said.

“Governor Fubara’s willingness to engage with the President and the APC raises concerns about his independence and the sincerity of the PDP’s internal conflict resolution efforts.

“Literally, it is as if Governor Fubara willingly presented his neck on the chopping board for Wike, Tinubu, and the APC to chop off.

“The actions of the former governor is destroying PDP in Rivers State for the benefit of the APC and President . It is therefore an irony that Fubara goes to Tinubu and the APC to resolve a PDP matter.

“The people of Rivers State must stand united. The proposed agreement should be rejected, as Governor Fubara serves the interest of Rivers State, not the interests of Wike or Tinubu. The resistance against external manipulation and the preservation of the state’s autonomy are paramount”.

NADECO urged Fubara and Wike to prioritize the well-being of the people and the stability of the region.
