JUST IN: Ndigbo in Lagos reacts to Sanwoolu’s Victory, reveals next line of Action

The Deputy Apex leader of Ndigbo in Lagos APC, Mr Jude Idimogu, says Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s electoral victory at the Supreme Court on Friday is well deserved.

Idimogu, a former two-term lawmaker who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said that the governor worked for his victory at the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state.

The former lawmaker said: “This judgment is good and fantastic. He (Sanwo-Olu) deserves the victory. The truth is that Sanwo-Olu won that election and has been doing excellently well.

“When you compare Lagos state with most other states, you will see that Sanwo-Olu is outstanding because he is very close to the people.

“He touches them and participates in what people are doing. He came out in full force to campaign and won the election.

“He worked hard with other supporters during the poll. So, the victory he has is well-deserved because he worked for it,” he said.

Idimogu, who applauded the unity of mind and purpose between Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, said that the team spirit was working for the state.

He said that it would have been a catastrophe if another party had taken over the state when the APC government was at the centre.

Idimogu urged PDP’s Abdul-Azeez Adediran and LP’s Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to go back to the drawing board and do their home work well ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Recall that Rhode-Viviour and Adediran (Jandor) dissatisfied with the Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal and the Appeal Court’ rulings affirming Sanwo-Olu as winner, sought justice at the Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the apex court in a unanimous decision on Friday, upheld Sanwo-Olu as duly elected governor of Lagos State, dismissing the appeals of LP’s Rhodes-Vivour and PDP’s Adediran for lacking in merit and a gross abuse of court process.

NAN recalls that Rhodes-Vivour, and Abdulazeez Adediran had approached the apex court to challenge Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the election.

The LP urged the Supreme Court to hold that the March 18 election was marred by irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

He also added that the Lagos state deputy governor was not qualified to contest the election.

Similarly, Adediran filed 34 grounds of appeal, asking the apex court to upturn the verdict of the Lagos State governorship election tribunal and the court of appeal.
