JUST IN: PDP releases timetable for Edo Governorship Election

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has released the timetable for the election of its governorship candidate ahead of the September 19 election.

National Organising Secretary of the party, Col. Austin Akobundu, made this known in a statement made available to POLITICS NIGERIA on Saturday.

According to Akobundu, the sale of forms to governorship aspirants will commence on May 20 and it will come to an end on June 2.

He noted that the screening exercise for all those that completed and returned the governorship forms will take place on June 4. Akobundu added that June 4 has been set aside as the date for those who are dissatisfied with the screening to appeal.

The PDP chieftain said the ward elections to elect three ad-hoc delegates will take place on June 9 and the appeal for those dissatisfied with the outcome of the process is slated for June 12.

Akobundu said the election of local government delegates to pick National delegates that would elect the governorship candidate of the party would be on June 16 and the appeal will take place on June 19.

He noted that the election of the party’s governorship candidate would take place between June 23 and June 24, any appeal arising from it would be on June 26.

The party chieftain said the date for the submission of the name of the governorship candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will take place on September 1.
