JUST IN: PDP’s Melaye Emerges as Kogi Central and West Forum Consensus Candidate

Kogi State Central and West Forum, a prominent organisation in Kogi Central and West senatorial districts, has officially endorsed Senator Dino Melaye from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as their preferred candidate for the upcoming governorship election on November 11.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the forum organised an interview session where they invited Senator Melaye, the PDP candidate, as well as Honorable Leke Abejide from the ADC party and Mr. Olayinka Braimoh from the Action Alliance (AA) party.

This newspaper learnt that the purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the candidates and determine the most suitable choice for endorsement by the forum’s leadership and members.

Following the conclusion of the interview process, Senator Melaye emerged as the frontrunner with a total score of 2,203. His closest competitor, Honorable Abejide of the ADC party, received 1,885 points, while Mr. Olayinka Braimoh from the AA party secured 1,293 points.

In light of these results, Senator Melaye was declared the consensus candidate by the forum, pending his introduction and presentation to the communities within the two senatorial districts.

The Kogi Group is headed by Professor Nuhu Yakubu, the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, while Honorable Mathew Keyi, the former chairman of Ogori/Mangogo local government area, serves as the group’s secretary. Other notable members of the forum include Professor Aliyu, Professor Mike Ikupolati, Professor (Mrs.) Emily Alemeka, Senator Mohammed Ohiare, Barrister (Mrs.) Justina Abanida, and many others.
