JUST IN: Tension in Kaduna community as terrorists abduct aid worker

Palpable Tension gripped the residents of Birnin-Gwari area of Kaduna State after Ansaru terrorists on Saturday abducted a Kaduna State Government aid worker.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the terrorists are demanding that the police and other security agents vacate the areas.

They are also sending threats of violent attacks to residents, warning them not to cooperate with the government.

Last month, Governor, Nasir El Rufai  of Kaduna State confirmed the presence of Ansaru terrorists and other criminal elements in Kaduna State.

The Governor said the rising presence of Ansar and Boko Haram terrorists in the state and their growing interaction with armed bandits was responsible for the attack on the Abuja- Kaduna bound train on the 28th of March in which the passengers kidnapped were still in captivity.

Ansaru’s exact origin is unclear, but it is known that the group emerged as a faction of Boko Haram, an extremist Islamist movement that launched an uprising against the Nigerian government in 2009.

In the bloodshed since, more than 36,500 people have been killed and over two million have fled their homes.

Apart from the main Boko Haram group and Ansaru, there is also a faction affiliated to the Islamic State.
