At least five officials of the Borno State government have been kidnapped by suspected insurgents of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP).
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the victims, who were supervising the construction of Chibok-Damboa road, were abducted on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred near Wovi, a remote village in Chibok Local Government Area (LGA).
It is understood that one of the abducted staff, a driver, escaped unhurt.
Commissioner for Works, Hon Architect Yerima Saleh, confirmed the incident.
This tragedy is coming barely 24 hours when Governor Babagana Umara Zulum at the presentation of the 2022 budget before the State House of Assembly members reiterated calls for speedy completion of the Chibok-Damboa road before the middle of 2022.
