JUST IN: Top Nigerian photographer is dead [PHOTO]

A veteran Nigerian photojournalist, Joe Oroye, is dead, POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

Oroye died on Monday at a hospital in his home town of Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Southwest Nigeria, after a protracted battle with stroke.

The 79-year-old who lost his wife in 2021, is survived by four children and many grandchildren.

Oroye worked at Media Trust Limited from February 1999 to March 12, 2009.
He was a correspondent of Daily Trust at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja for many years.

Funmi Aderinto wrote on Facebook: “With heavy heart we wish to announce the death of my Daddy, our Daddy, Grandpa JOE OROYE which occurred Monday 10 January, 2022. May his soul rest in peace.”

Adeshida Yomi stated via Facebook: “Today, I lost a fatherly friend, confidant and a professional guardian! Sleep well, Pa Joe Oroye and rest till we meet to part no more!”

Bayo Obisesan said on Facebook: “Sweet is the remembrance of the Righteous. RIP Baba Joe Oroye popularly called Ire.”
