Lamido: Tinubu’s govt building Lagos-Calabar coastal road but can’t increase minimum wage

Former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has criticized the Bola Tinubu-led federal government over its handling of the minimum wage negotiations with labour leaders in the country.

In an interview with ChannelsTV on Monday evening, Lamido noted that Nigeria is rich and can afford to pay the new minimum wage of N495,000 proposed by organized labour.

The former governor also criticized the federal government for prioritizing the construction of the Lagos-Calabar coastal road over workers’ welfare.

“Nigeria is rich with resources…there is money in Nigeria… if they can embark on the Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, they can pay any amount,“ Lamido declared.

He also accused the Tinubu administration of “doing everything wrong” adding that the president did not build Lagos as largely claimed.

“I know Tinubu very well… Tinubu never built Lagos. Lagos was built with Nigerian money for him to benefit from… He is now lucky he is the president… his government is doing everything wrong,” Lamido added.
