Mixed Results for APC and PDP in Governorship Tribunal Verdicts [LIST]

The governorship election tribunals across the country have delivered verdicts in 22 states, with some favouring the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), while others favour the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won 10 states so far in governorship election tribunals across the country.

The states won by the APC are Gombe, Cross River, Benue, Lagos, Kano, Ogun, Ebonyi, Kaduna, Kebbi, and Sokoto.

In some of the states, the tribunals upheld the re-election of incumbent governors, while in others, they declared new winners.

For example, the Gombe State Tribunal affirmed the re-election of Muhammadu Yahaya, while the Kano State Tribunal ruled that the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, was the rightful winner of the March 18 poll.

The PDP has also won a number of states in the tribunals, including Plateau, Zamfara, Bauchi, Enugu, Nasarawa, Delta, Akwa Ibom, Taraba, Oyo, Adamawa, and Rivers.

So far, the state tribunals have delivered judgment in 22 states; six states are yet to get the judgment from their respective tribunals, namely Borno, Jigawa, Katsina, Kwara, Niger, and Yobe.

Here is a summary of some of the judgments delivered by the tribunals so far:

Gombe State: The tribunal affirmed the re-election of Muhammadu Yahaya as governor of the state.

Cross River State: The tribunal dismissed the petition brought by Prof. Sandy Onor against the election victory of Senator Bassey Otu as governor, and Peter Odey as deputy governor of the state.

Benue State: The tribunal dismissed the petition by the candidate of the PDP, Titus Uba, filed against the election of Hyacinth Alia of the APC.

Lagos State: The tribunal upheld the victory of Babajide Sanwo-Olu while dismissing Olajide Adediran (alias Jandor) and Rhodes-Vivour’s petitions.

Kano State: The tribunal ruled that the candidate of the opposition APC, Nasiru Gawuna, was the winner of the March 18 poll.

Ogun State: The tribunal affirmed the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun as the winner of the March 18 governorship contest in the state.

Ebonyi State: The tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Bernard Odoh of the All Progressives Grand Alliance and affirmed Francis Nwifuru as governor of the state.

Kaduna State: The tribunal upheld the victory of Uba Sani as the governor of the state.

Sokoto State: The tribunal affirmed the election of Ahmed Aliyu of the APC as the governor of the state.

Kebbi State: The tribunal reaffirmed the election of Nasir Idris as the duly elected governor of Kebbi State.

Plateau State: The tribunal upheld the election of Caleb Mutfwang as the duly elected governor of the state.

Zamfara State: The tribunal affirmed the election of Dauda Lawal of the PDP as the governor of the state.

Bauchi State: The tribunal affirmed Bala Mohammed’s election as governor.

Enugu State: The tribunal upheld the election of Peter Mbah of the PDP as governor of the state.

Nasarawa State: The tribunal, in a split judgment, annulled the election of Governor Sule of the APC and declared David Ombugadu of the PDP the rightful winner of the election.

Delta State: The tribunal upheld the election of Sheriff Oborevwori of the PDP in the March 18 election.

Akwa Ibom State: The tribunal sitting in Uyo dismissed a petition brought by the candidate of the APC, Akanimo Udofia, challenging the election of Pastor Umoh Eno of the PDP.

Taraba State: The tribunal affirmed the election of Agbu Kefas as the governor of the state.

Oyo State: The tribunal affirmed the election of Seyi Makinde as governor of the state.

Adamawa State: The tribunal upheld the election of Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP as governor of the state.

Rivers State: The tribunal dismissed petitions seeking to nullify the election of Governor Similayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Abia State: The tribunal affirmed the election of Governor Alex Otti, dismissing the petitions of the PDP, APC, and the Young Progressives Party’s candidates.
