Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, Speaker of the Ondo state house of Assembly has reacted to reports that the state house of assembly is scheming to impeach the governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu over N4.3 billion found in a secret account.
POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the Ondo state government has been facing severe criticisms ever since the discovery of the large sum of money.
Speaking with newsmen on Monday, Oleyelogun disclosed that state lawmakers were not harbouring any plan to do such.
“We are not fighting the governor at all. All we have been doing over the N4.3bn fund is part of our oversight functions and it is in the interest of the state.”
“Mr governor has not done anything to warrant any impeachment plot and we are not fighting,” he said. However, he said the House will get to the root of the matter.”
Earlier today, reports emerged that armed policemen had surrounded the personal residence of the speaker for unknown reasons.
