Niger coup: ECOWAS military chiefs to meet in Ghana

Military chiefs of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) have resolved to meet in Accra, Ghana, to review the political situation in Niger Republic.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, August 17 and Friday, August 18, in Ghana’s capital.

The meeting is coming on the heels of ECOWAS leaders’ stance on military intervention in the West African country.

Following this position, the military junta in Niger Republic has threatened to kill ousted President Mohammed Bazoum.

Back in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has been receiving much heat for proposing to send troops to the neighbouring country to begin war.
