Nigeria will continue to exist – Obasanjo, rejects Yoruba Nation and IPOB

Ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo has ruled out the possible existence of a Yoruba Nation or Biafra by stating that Nigeria will continue to exist as one.

OBJ, on Friday, declared that the unity and indissolubility of Nigeria remains sacrosanct adding that the country and its over 200 million citizens will continue to exist no matter what happens.

He made this comment during a  Book Launch and 85th Birthday ofPrelate Sunday Mbang of the Methodist Church Nigeria.

The event was held at the Admiralty Centre, Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island, Lagos State.

Obasanjo, who was the Convener of the programme in honour of Mbang, described the former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria as a lover of Nigeria.

Obasanjo said he would continue to work for the peace and progress of a united Nigeria.

Speaking directly to the celebrant, the ex-President assured the respected Christian leader that the enemies of Nigeria won’t win.

Obasanjo said; “We want to assure you that Nigeria will continue to exist because the cost for Nigeria not to continue to exist is much more than the cost for us to make Nigeria to continue to exist.”

“There are many people, high and low, who can be described as enemies of Nigeria but they will not win over those who are friends of Nigeria.”

  1. Obasanjo said this for selfish reasons. The reason is that he benefits the failed state. He does not feel and see what Yoruba Nation agitators see, suffer from and experience. He wants to continue gallivanting all over the eorld, using the appellation of Former Nigerian President. So, if Nigeria breaks up now, that name will varnish and the benefits accruable therefrom will also go. So, he prefers to continue enjoying the perks of being a former president to seeing marginalisation and oppression and constant underdevelopment to continue in Yorubaland. Obasanjo is just one person in Yorubaland. So, his comments on our self-determination agenda cannot stop our stop struggle. His comments are efforts in futility. Ire o!
