NSCDC operatives raid illegal refinery in Abia, arrests eight suspects

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended eight individuals connected to a newly uncovered artisanal crude oil refinery in Abia State.

The arrest was announced in a statement released on Sunday, June 16, via the NSCDC’s official X handle.

According to the statement, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) conducted the operation, which led to the discovery of the illegal refinery.

The site, operating within a swamp forest in Abia State, spanned a large expanse of land and contained no fewer than two hundred local cooking ovens.

The NSCDC’s statement read: “Commandant General Special Intelligence Squad (CG SIS) arrests eight suspects in a newly discovered artisanal crude oil refinery, operating on a large expanse of land with no fewer than two hundred local cooking ovens inside the swamp forest in Abia State.”

The NSCDC assured Nigerians that its operatives would continues to work towards dismantling such operations and bringing those involved to justice.
