Oronsaye report: “With 48 ministers, Tinubu not ready to cut cost of governance” – PDP chieftain

Barr. Ray Nnaji, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has criticised President Bola Tinubu for appointing 48 ministers.

Nnaji, a former national auditor of the PDP, said Tinubu is not ready to cut the cost of governance.

He made the comment in an interview with New Telegraph, published on Sunday, March 3.

Reacting to the decision of the Federal Government to implement the Orosanye report to reduce government size, Nnaji said:

“That report has been there for 12 years, and they are implementing it now; how do you start with the implementation?

“The president is supposed to have pruned down the number of ministries to be in line with the constitution.

“That is to show you that he is serious about doing that, but still, he has 48 ministers against 30, something that he inherited from every other government before him.

“So, I don’t know the reason behind creating ministries. Now he is saying he is going to merge some agencies and departments, and how he is going to do it is entirely what we don’t know because the cost of governance is still high; there is no way they are going to bring it to the extent of getting back to the situation which he inherited.”
