Yusuf Sulaimon Lasun, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the Osun election 2022, has said the plan of those who invaded his home early Monday morning, was to eliminate him.
POLITICS NIGERIA had reported how hoodlums came around 2 am and shot indiscriminately at the Ilobu residence of Lasun located in Oke-Ima area of the town.
Security personnel attached to the compound repelled the attack, with no one injured and no death.
Reacting to the attack, Lasun, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, told newsmen on Monday that the attackers had the intention of harming him.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State, Ismail Omipidan, has said that Yusuff is no threat to his principal’s second term ambition.
Omipidan was reacting to the allegation that the governor’s camp is responsible for the incident.
“If we are to carry out an attack, it would have been in the PDP who are attacking our people but for the fact that they have been attacking our people, we have never made any attempt to go on a reprisal.
“Why would anyone want to come after Lasun? Lasun is no threat to Mr governor we are not after any citizen of Osun State, let alone Lasun Yusuff.
“It is not only that my principal does not know anything about the attack but I am doubtful of the claim being made by Honourable Lasun Yusuff.
“Lasun should stop painting a picture as if there is tension in the state. We all know there is no tension in Osun,” he said.
Lasun is not in the calculation. He is an empty boastful wishful thinker, a day dreamer going nowhere near the state house of Osun. A bitter politician who lost out in his prevoius party primaries for governor.
