JUST IN: PDP reacts to ‘Loss’ at Supreme Court, Reveals Next Move

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to a report that the Supreme Court struck out an appeal filed by its Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar at the ongoing Election Tribunal.

Below is a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan;

“The Case that was determined today by the Justice Dattijio Mohammed led five-man panel of the Supreme Court, was an appeal filed by the PDP and Atiku/Obi on a ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal concerning an application made by the APC to withdraw one of the replies made to the Petitioners’ Petition.”

“The APC had erroneously made two replies to one of PDP and Atiku/Obi’s petitions but later came to the courtroom and apply to withdraw the very reply the PDP and Atiku/Obi had replied to, thereby adopting the one not replied to.”

“This request was later granted by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and the PDP and Atiku/Obi had gone to the Supreme Court, seeking the leave of court to grant the party fair hearing.”

Note

“Please note that the main petition is still before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal and the adoption of the final written addresses by various parties will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2019, at the Court of Appeal, Abuja, Venue of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.”

“Important Information

It is also important for the general public to note that the PDP and Atiku/Obi have already done justice to *ALL* the replies made to their Petitions by the 1st Respondent, (INEC), 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) and the 3rd Respondent (The All Progressives Congress), in their final written address.”

“The Issues for Determination

1. Whether the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) was at the time of the election not qualified to contest the election.

2. Whether the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) submitted to the 1st Respondent (INEC) affidavits containing false information of a fundamental nature in aid of his qualification for the said election.

3. Whether from the pleadings and evidence led it was established that the 2nd Respondent (Muhammadu Buhari) was elected by majority of lawful votes cast at the election.

4. Whether the Presidential election conducted by the 1st Respondent (INEC) on the 23rd February 2019 was invalid by reasons of corrupt practices.

5. Whether the presidential election conducted by the 1st Respondent (INEC) on the 23rd February 2019 was invalid by reasons of non-compliance with the electoral act 2010 (as amended) and the electoral guidelines 2019 and the manuals issued for the conduct of the elections.

These are the issues before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.”

  1. Thank you very much for the explanation. I wonder how a case that is not decided upon by the tribunal be decided by the supreme court. Press should mind the headlines they issue out to avoid decieving the general public.

  2. Thanks for the update PDP public city secretary i beging to wonder why is it like this,no judgement has been pass by the election petition tribunal.

  3. I’m Sure, God Will Overtake These Events And Justice Will Prevail At The End. NIGERIANS, REMAIN CALM.

  4. PLS, JUDICIARY DO TRY TO PROTECT YOUR IMAGE SO THAT PEOPLE CAN HAVE CONFIDENCE YOU. IF YOU FAIL TO PROTECT THIS DEMOCRACY YOUR IMAGE SHALL BE WORST THAN THAT OF NIGERIA POLICE AND NIGERIAN ARMY.

  5. Nigerian sud remember that nobody ever plant yam & harvest plantain, what u sow that’s what u reap.Tribunal sud do d needful with d fear God & sud not intimidated by anybody, afterall what u’re today wasn’t frm anybody but God & ur parent. So integrity matters here.Be bold.Good luck.

  6. Pdp should not be faster than their shoes by not waiting for tribunal to past judgement before taking the matter to suprime court

  7. Most Atiku supporters kept dreaming every day expecting a miracle that ‘ll declare their candidate the winner of last presidential election. What a hope! Anyway the lawyers are just making money from the man.

  8. What truth? I guess your own version of the truth or what you expect the truth to be. Majority of Nigerians are like Morinho…very bad losers. Peter Obi made the greatest mistake of his political career by siding with one like Attiku. Becoming vice president was a stroke of Ibb’s goodwill. Attiku can never be president of Nigeria.

  9. As a matter of fact, I’m not surprised by ruling of the Supreme Court and every other courts, most especially in Nigeria and in all jurisdictions

  10. it is not possible for Baba Gaskia to leave Aso Rock for anybody yet, take the tribunal verdict in good fate,it is God that gives power to who ever He wishes and not money
