Police Rescue Kidnapping Victim in Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim in Emohua Local Government Area of the state.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Nwonyi Polycarp, shared the news during a press briefing at the State Police Headquarters in Port Harcourt.

According to Commissioner Polycarp, the rescue operation was carried out by the Command’s operatives in collaboration with members of the Emohua Vigilante Security. They tracked down the victim to a forest near the Choba Bridge along the East-West Road, where she was found safe and unharmed. However, the kidnappers managed to evade capture by fleeing through the river.

The rescued victim, whose name is being withheld for security reasons, had been kidnapped on June 26 at around 7:50 pm while travelling along Salvation Ministry Road in a black-coloured Lexus 330 Jeep, which is yet to be recovered.

Commissioner Polycarp assured the public that efforts to retrieve the stolen vehicle are underway, and the victim has been joyfully reunited with her family. He also pledged the Command’s relentless pursuit to apprehend the criminals behind this heinous act.

“Our resolve to combat crime remains unwavering,” Commissioner Polycarp declared. “We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and assist the Command in our efforts to maintain peace and security in Rivers State.”

It’s worth noting that just last week, the remains of a former government official, who had been kidnapped and buried in a forest, were exhumed and moved to a mortuary as part of ongoing investigations into the criminal activities in the region.
