Police stop UNN student from committing suicide in Lagos

Men of the Nigeria Police Force have prevented a 21 years old student of the University of Nigeria (UNN), Enugu campus, from committing suicide.

It was gathered that the boy wanted to carry out the act because he was reprimanded by his parents.

Lagos State Neighbourhood Security Corps alerted the Ejigbo Police Station on January 7 over the incident. They alerted the Police that 21-year-old Obasi Augustine Chuckuemeka, who resides at No 4, Alaba Street, Ejigbo Last bus stop.

A statement released by the Lagos State Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, says the student tied a rope in a loop around their living room ceiling fan preparing to commit suicide after being scolded by his parents.

All thanks to the swift response of the operatives who prevented him from killing himself.

They rescued and took him to the hospital for medical examination.

The Force also said an investigation is ongoing on the case.
