Former Kaduna central senator, Shehu Sani has warned Nigerian Senators and House of Reps members to avoid any scheme to amend the Nigerian Press council bill.
Sani issued the warning via a statement on Friday morning on his social media page. He disclosed that any attempt to do that will be synonymous to building a ‘Tyrannical monster’ that will eventually consume the entire government.
In his words: “If the Senate and the House of reps agree to amend the Nigerian Press Council Bill that makes it impossible for the media to hold the Government to account.”
“They will be building a tyrannical monster that will consume this democracy and the institution they represent.”
“Of all the problems of this country,the one receiving the most attention is how to silence voices of dissent.”
