Senate Adjourns Plenary Until July, Writes Tinubu on Leadership Election

The Senate on Wednesday adjourned plenary until July 4.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that this decision came after Senator Barau Jubril (APC-Kano), the Deputy President of the Senate, proposed the motion during the day’s plenary, which received unanimous support.

Prior to the adjournment, the Senate approved a motion to formally inform President Bola Tinubu that the 10th Senate had achieved a quorum and had successfully elected its Presiding Officers. Additionally, the Senate passed a motion to send letters of congratulations to the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for their successful election. These letters will also inform them about the election of the President and Deputy President of the Senate.

During the plenary, the Senate also adopted a motion to communicate with international parliamentary bodies, informing them of the quorum present in the 10th Senate and the readiness of the Senate to receive any communication. Among the bodies to be notified are the African Union (AU), ECOWAS Parliament, Common Wealth Parliamentary Association (CWPA), Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and others.
