“Since Tinubu assumed office, insecurity has reduced” – Akpabio declares

Senate President Godswill Akpabio stated on Wednesday that the level of insecurity in the country has significantly decreased since President Bola Tinubu assumed office on May 29, 2023.

Akpabio made these remarks while contributing to a debate on a motion regarding recent killings in Benue State.

Akpabio acknowledged that the recent attack in Benue was an aberration, but he emphasized the recorded decrease in the frequency of major killings across the country.

He praised President Tinubu’s support for the Armed Forces and expressed confidence that the collaboration between the Senate, House of Representatives, and the Presidency would result in resolutions beneficial to the entire country.

In his words, “It is a fact that since he assumed duties, insecurity has abated, and major attacks are no longer taking place, but this one is just an aberration, and it will be brought to an end.”

Akpabio assured the affected communities that the matter was on the floor of the Senate, and serious actions were being taken with the Presidency to restore normalcy in the areas and take care of the victims.

The Senate, in its resolutions, paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the recent attacks and urged the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and other security agencies to deploy personnel to the affected areas swiftly.

Additionally, the Senate resolved to compile all resolutions related to killings nationwide for presentation to President Tinubu.
