Soludo Moves to Track Ghost Workers in Anambra

The Anambra State Government has unveiled an electronic identification card scheme for civil servants and other government employees in the state.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo described the electronic card system as the first of its kind in Nigeria adding that it would enable the government and citizens to identify civil servants and other government employees across the state.

Soludo, who was represented by the Head of Service, Theodora Igwegbe, noted that the scheme was part of his administration’s agenda to digitalise all sectors of the state economy, identify ghost workers, latecomers, and strengthen transparency and accountability in the workforce.

“Through this digital system, Anambra State can establish a transparent framework that records interactions, transactions, and decision-making processes. This fosters a culture of accountability by deterring corrupt practices and ensuring that civil servants are held responsible for their actions.”

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State ICT agency, Mr Chukwuemeka Agbata, said the scheme would improve public service delivery.
