Sowore, Amnesty Int’l react to arrest of #RevolutionNow Protesters

The convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore, and a human rights group, Amnesty Internation have condemned the Department of State Service and other security agencies over the arrest of some peaceful protesters on Wednesday.

This news platform reports that security operatives arrested the protesters at the Unity Fountain in Abuja and other parts of the country. The protesters had gathered to protest against the continued killings in some parts of the country and increased poverty in the country.

But the DSS and other security agents arrested the members of the movement on the orders from above and subjected them to inhumane treatment.

Reacting to the development, Sowore berated the DSS and the police for what he called an illegal arrest and treatment of the protesters.

He said, “Nigerian security agents subjecting peaceful #RevolutionNow protesters to inhuman and degrading treatment at Unity Fountain in Abuja.”

Also, Amnesty International explained that embarking on a peaceful protest is the right of every human.

“Protest is a human right,” the group tweeted.
