The convener of the Coalition for Revolution (CORE), Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Gambari as the new Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that President Buhari has appointed a former Minister of External Affairs as his new CoS, following the death of Abba Kyari, who lost his life to the dreaded COVID-19 virus.
This newspaper learned that Gambari will be announced as the new CoS to the President during a virtual meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday.
Reacting to the appointment in a statement on Tuesday, Sowore alleged that Gambari’s major role during General Sani Abacha’s military regime makes him unfit for the new role.
The former presidential candidate added that Gambari also served almost all the dictators that have ruled the country.
Sowore added that Gambari, who some people claim is an intelligent man, used his ‘intelligence’ to defend the draconian policies of the Abacha regime while he was Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations.
He said, “Professor Ibrahim Gambari, who some people claim is an intelligent man, used his ‘intelligence’ to defend the draconian policies of the Abacha regime while he was Nigeria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations.
“He was one of Abacha’s equivalents of the “goebel” representing the infamous dictator with vigor and a propensity that could only be found in fascist Italy of old.
“As more pressure mounted on the Abacha regime from all corners of the world, Professor Gambari became more notorious and ruthless in defending and deflecting attacks against the Abacha dictatorship.
“I remember his many appearances on cable news channels, especially after Abacha murdered environmentalist and author, Ken Saro-Wiwa following what can be described as a kangaroo trial. Professor Gambari stoically denied that the Abacha regime had committed a crime; he labeled Saro-Wiwa a “common criminal” who had engaged in the murder of some Ogoni elders.
“After the demise of Abacha, his other co-dictators and collaborators were put in their place: Call it the Nigerian Hall of Shame.
“Professor Ibrahim Gambari has not been touched; he has not been called to account. Unlike the Usenis, Mustapha, and Gwarzo, he did not appear before the hapless “Oputa Panel” to explain his ignominious role. Instead, he was elevated by Kofi Annan, the United Nations Secretary-General, to the position of Under-Secretary and Special Adviser on Africa at the UN.
“Even after the death of Abacha, Kofi Annan’s visits to Nigeria were primarily to prevail on Chief M.K.O Abiola to forget about his June 12 mandate. He didn’t care about Abiola’s freedom so he quietly went to meet him in jail and asked him to ‘fuggetabutit.’
“It is intriguing that Professor Gambari has now become a darling of so many Nigerian organizations. Honors are pouring in from everywhere and he is getting awards and making speeches all over the place.”
SOWORE:so you think’that you have sense more than’every one in the world? No! history will judge you with your hiden agenda to destablise,the peace of our great nation Nigeria.
What does Sowore do for living that affords him so much time. Where was he when his tribes men collided with others to wipe out Igbos during the civil war. If he loves conflict, I advise him to relocate to either Syria, Yemen or Libya and leave us alone.
And you think there’s no sense in what he’s just said. I think it’s because you’re probably a fan of murderers .
Africans have always been their own shithole,killing themselves and helping outsiders to them. Gambari help Abacha kill his fellow citizens, Obama help Briton kill Libians ,etc. Sowore is right. Gambari should not be appluded.
Sowore, was Buhari not working with Abacha? Is it now you know those who worked with Abacha. Why did you accept Buhari and condemn Gambari. You are a dirty hypocrite. Just watch what next will happen to you. Son of perdition.
Aliyu you should be specific when you admit that sowore agenda is to destabilize our peaceful country? Is it destabilizing intense of division, because know matter how long you play politics with the truth just like Nigeria is repartraiting abacha loot so the truth will one day come out and judgement given to our leaders who have actually destabilize and divided our so called peaceful country according to aliyu.

IS IT NOT SOMEBODY HE WANTS TO WORK WITH? INSTEAD, IF THE PERSON IS YOUR ENEMY, THEN STOP GOING TO ASO ROCK PENDING ON WHEN THE TENURE IS OVER. PERIOD. My problem is that is there no agile and more stronger person whose age is below 60;who cannot handle the office of CoS in Nigeria
