Teenage kidnapper kills 11-year-old boy after demanding ransom in Yobe state

A 19-year-old kidnapper identified as Mohammed Abdullahi has been identified as the kidnapper of his neighbour’s 11-year-old son.

The perpetrator, after demanding a ransom of ₦600,000 from the victim’s parents, administered a hard drug to the young boy, resulting in his tragic death.

Abdullahi then buried the victim’s body within their house premises while his parents were away.

The Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Ahmed Garba, at a press briefing held at the Police Command headquarters in Damaturu, said:

“Mohammed Abdullahi, a 19-year-old suspect from Buniyadi, abducted the son of their neighbour’s 11-year-old and later demanded a ransom of 600,000 naira.

“When the parents of the victim could not meet his demand, he later bought drugs and administered them to the victim to sleep, and the victim later died.

“The suspect later buried the corpse in their house while his parents were away and was later apprehended by the police.”

According to CP Garba, Mohammed Abdullahi’s actions represent a disturbing trend of criminality resurfacing in the state.

The police commissioner emphasized the urgency of addressing such security challenges to safeguard the lives and property of residents.

Expressing his dismay at the prevailing insecurity, CP Garba urged the Yobe State government to prioritize youth empowerment and skills acquisition initiatives.
