2023: Tinubu is not the President Nigeria Needs – APC Chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State, Adamu Kuta, has said that the National leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the kind of President Nigerians need after President Muhammadu Buhari.

Kuta made the comment while reacting to recent claims that Tinubu is being pressurized to contest the 2023 Presidency. Speaking to Journalists recently, He supported a recent declaration by the Mallam Shettima Yerima-led-Arewa Youth Consultative Forum that the North will still produce President Buhari’s successor come 2023.

The former House of Representatives member said he saw no southern alliance strong enough to stop the North from producing Buhari’s successor because the rotational Presidency many Nigerians are laying claims to in demanding for power-shift to the South is not in the constitution.

He, however, argued that regardless of which region the next President comes from, Nigeria needed a leader that could consolidate on the foundation and achievements of President Buhari, especially on anti-corruption war and Tinubu cannot be trusted to continue in that direction.

The frontline politician, who said he has nothing personal against Tinubu but was only stating the obvious for the country’s future noted: “I like Tinubu as a person, he has contributed immensely to the success of our great party, but honestly, he is not the kind of president Nigeria needs in 2023”.

“Our country needs someone to continue with the achievements and foundation that President Buhari has laid, particularly the anti-graft war, which is sending serious fears into the spines of corrupt Nigerians and we want someone that can continue from where he will stop in 2023”.

Kuta noted that no doubts, Tinubu has paid his dues in not only making the APC what it is today but also Nigerian politics said, but aside that still has not met the criteria and expectations of Nigerians to lead.

Meanwhile, Adamu Kuta has dismissed the insinuations in some quarters that the crisis bedevilling the ruling APC could lead to its extinction after the second tenure of President Buhari in 2023.

Though the party came into being after merger of a good number of strong political blocks including the All Nigerian People’s Party (ANPP), Alliance for Democracy (AD), and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), Kuta said the APC will not go with President Buhari in 2023. “The crisis is not new to Nigeria’s politics and every political party has its own share of crisis”.
