Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has assured Nigerians that the country will surely overcome the dreaded coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known In his Easter message released by his Media Office on Friday. Atiku enjoined Christians and other Nigerians to keep love alive and continue to lend a helping hand to the less privileged, despite present difficulties.

3. FG To Governors: Stop Playing Politics With COVID-19 Directives

The Federal Government has urged some state governors to stop playing politics with the directives issued to contain the coronavirus pandemic spreading across the country. Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, gave the admonition on Friday when he featured on Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) programme, Good Morning Nigeria. Mohammed, who was giving an update on efforts of the Presidential Task Force for the Control of Coronavirus at containing the pandemic, underscored the need for continued engagements with states and harmonisation of directives.

4. Governor Yahaya Bello Reacts To 2023 Presidential Campaign Posters

As the 2023 general elections draw closer, several campaign fliers and posters have started flooding some major cities in the country. Such is that of the posters of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. The governor has, however, denied being involved in the circulation of the campaign materials and distanced himself from the 2023 presidency. In a statement on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mohammed Onogwu, governor Bello said he has no hand in campaign materials linking him to next year’s election.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has reacted to the ‘maltreatment’ of some Nigerians in China. FFK, a chieftain of the Opposition People Democratic Party, PDP, blamed Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari for the situation. It will be recalled that some Nigerians leaving in China were thrown out of their homes recently over concerns related to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to apologise to Nigerians for deceiving Nigerians while secretly running an over-bloated oil subsidy government. Nigeria’s main opposition party made this known in a statement sent to POLITICS NIGERIA on Friday by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiya. The party said it demanded an apology from Buhari based on ‘statement credited to the NNPC Managing Director, Mele Kyari, that the Buhari administration had been running an over-bloated subsidy, which is against the national interest.

The number of Coronavirus cases in Nigeria has risen to 305 following the discovery of 17 New cases on Friday. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), on Friday, made the revelation via a statement on its social media page.

Former vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Peter Obi has berated some state governors for relaxing lockdown for religious purposes. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that some state governments had relaxed the lockdown enforced to curb the spread of the coronavirus for the Easter celebrations and Jumat service. Speaking at a programme on Arise Television on Friday, Obi said states which have relaxed the lockdown for Easter celebrations do not have enough ventilators should the crisis escalate.

10. Wife Of Dead Daura Doctor, Two Children Test Positive For Coronavirus

Three family members of a medical doctor who died of Coronavirus in Daura have tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19). Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State disclosed this while giving an update on the pandemic status in the state on Friday. POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Dr. Aminu Yakubu, a Daura based private medical practitioner who recently returned from Lagos to Katsina died of the dreaded disease.
