A source has revealed to Peoples Gazette that Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna has rejected the nomination of Jafaru Sani as a ministerial candidate suggested by Nasir El-Rufai.
According to the report, upon learning of El-Rufai’s nomination of Sani as his replacement, Governor Sani rushed back to Nigeria from a trip to London.
He reportedly told President Bola Tinubu at the State House that he disagreed with his predecessor’s proposal.
The source said the governor told Tinubu that Sani lacks political relevance in Kaduna apart from claiming he is too loyal to El-Rufai.
The source said:
“He has now told the president to expect another name; He complained that Jafaru Sani has no political relevance in Kaduna and has been too loyal to El-Rufai.”
Meanwhile, El-Rufai, after withdrawing from his ministerial ambition, departed Nigeria for Egypt.
During a screening exercise for ministerial nominees, the Senate withheld the former governor’s name over questions of insecurity in Kaduna raised by a lawmaker.
