The newly inaugurated president, Bola Tinubu, announced the appointment of Femi Gbajabiamila, the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, as his Chief of Staff on Friday.

Notably, President Tinubu has long been a prominent figure in the political career of Femi Gbajabiamila, who assumed the role of House Speaker in 2019.
Additionally, George Akume, a former Minister of Special Duties, was appointed as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The development happened during a meeting between President Tinubu and Governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Aso Villa, where the President shared his strategic choices for key positions within his government.
The appointment of Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a seasoned politician and former deputy governor of Jigawa, as the new Deputy Chief of Staff reportedly added another layer of depth to the President’s administration.

This announcement comes at a time when the president faces criticism for implementing the removal of fuel subsidies without first establishing a team to mitigate the impact on Nigeria’s vulnerable populations.
