What Remi Tinubu told Betty Akeredolu during visit to Ibadan

First Lady Remi Tinubu has mourned the unfortunate death of former Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu.

Politics Nigeria reports that Akeredolu died on Wednesday at the age of 67, following a protracted battle with prostrate cancer.

In a statement by Busola Kukoyi, her media aide, Mrs Tinubu said Nigeria has lost one of its great men.

The First Lady, who was at the Ibadan residence of the Akeredolus on Saturday, December 30, noted that the deceased fought gallantly to stay alive but every human existence is subject to the will of God.

“He did his best. God will be there for you, when God shows up for you, that is what really matters,” she said.

She urged Betty, the deceased wife, and the family to take solace in God and trust in Him alone at this trying time.

Responding on behalf of the family, Oluwole Ayodeji, brother of the deceased, said Akeredolu’s death was a painful one but the family is consoled by the fact that he has gone to rest.

He appreciated the First Lady and her entourage for the condolence visit which he described as a great honor.

The First Lady’s entourage included Nana Shettima, wife of the vice-president; wives of members of the national assembly; wives of Lagos and Ogun governors; and the wife of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
