Biafra: Reno Omokri withdraws support for Nnamdi Kanu, gives reasons

Former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has withdrawn his support for Pro-secessionist leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu, who is the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB is currently in DSS custody after brought back to Nigeria from Kenya by Security agents on Sunday June 27th 2021.

His trial will commence on July 26th. Omokri, who was vocal against the government’s treatment of Kanu withdrew his support after listening to an audio of Kanu insulting leaders of IPOB UK before announcing its dissolution.

In a statement os social media, Omokri listed reasons for his actions;

“I have never supported any separatist or secessionist agenda but I have supported and defended the right of any Nigerian to express himself and associate freely. It does not matter to me where such a person comes from.”

“Before Nnamdi Kanu was arrested, I did not know who he was. I just defended his right to freedom of expression and association. However, a former Presidential candidate on Tuesday sent me a tape of Nnamdi Kanu dissolving the UK branch of IPOB and tongue lashing the members.”

“I was shocked and refused to believe what I heard until I was directed to an IPOB channel where this same audio was broadcast. After I published the video on my page the most shocking thing happened. Various persons who claimed to be members of the Indigenous People of Biafra descended on my page and insulted me, attacked me and accused me of collecting money from Buhari.”

They even said Nnamdi Kanu can insult anyone he liked and I should leave him alone and so I went into deep thought. If Kanu eventually gets Biafra and I am a minority in that Biafra, what would be my fate?”

“I am not Yoruba, but because of me, these IPOB members insulted the Yoruba clan. Somebody even threatened to kill me if I ever stepped into Onitsha. My experience with Mr. Kanu’s supporters made me have a rethink.Looking back to those broadcasts, it has become obvious to me that Kanu himself made IPOB (not the Igbos as Buhari claims) a dot in a circle.”

“Who would want to be a minority in a country ruled by Kanu? You speak your mind and you may be shot on the spot,” he wrote.

  1. Anyone is at liberty to expression of anyone’s feeling on this subject. My take on this matter is that the realisation Biafra as a Nation is a project in God’s agenda. If He has destined Nnamdi Kanu as the one to achieve it, he’ll still be freed and the mission would be accomplished. If not, God would raise another person that would actualise it. Moses as appointed by God facilitated the exit of the Hebrews out of Egypt but did not lead them into the promised land. God raised another leader vis a vis Joshua who did.

  2. Reno Omokri why na? Why are you putting sand in garri for those who believe in Biafra actualization? I am 110% sure that if you nurse this same thought regarding the Oduduwa’s that you wouldn’t have engaged in public criticism. What has an Ibo man done wrong to deserve this? Why not kept this thought within yourself? Have ever believed in Biafra? The answer is NO, so why backlashing Nnamdi Kanu & making the government more popular concerning Nnamdi Kanu trial? Why Reno?

What has an Ibo man done wrong to deserve this nonsense you’re writing? You would hv kept this thought within you than opening sharing this publicly. Have u ever for once believed in Biafra if I may ask you? You already know the answer is capital NO….so why backlashing Nnamdi Kanu & making the same government you criticize more popular as if Nigeria is doing well concerning Nnamdi Kanu outcry? Why Reno? I couldn’t believe you’ll descend so low to write this garbage publicly. What do you stand to gain on this article you’ve written?

  4. The struggle is far bigger than reno omokri. He is at liberty to opt out. The move is not interested whether reno is there or not. He will only be ashamed when God’s plan on Biafra start unfolding in beautiful succession. Let him park by the side bcos his strength is small having failed in time of small adversity.
