JUST IN: Former PDP Aspirant Hayatu-Deen Declares for ADC Presidential Race

Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, a former presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has officially entered the 2027 presidential race under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The seasoned economist and banker made his intentions known on Tuesday night during a televised interview, where he outlined a vision centered on national unity, security, and major economic reforms.
Hayatu-Deen’s entry into the ADC fold signifies a major shift in the political landscape as the party continues to attract heavyweights from the nation’s dominant political blocs.
Speaking with Charles Aniagolu on Arise Television, Hayatu-Deen noted that the country’s current state requires a leadership that is deeply aware of the daily struggles of citizens and has the practical experience to fix them.
He expressed deep concern over the persistent hike in the cost of living, pointing out that “food prices keep going up, petrol prices keep rising, and for many Nigerians, just getting through the day has become a struggle.”
Beyond the economy, he lamented the breakdown of internal security, observing that the country’s financial resources are increasingly being drained by ransom payments rather than being used to empower security agencies.
The former banker was vocal about the disconnect between the ruling class and the masses, suggesting that the government has been slow to respond to the suffering of the people.
“This is not the Nigeria we deserve. It is time to change course, and that is why I am stepping forward to seek the ADC presidential ticket,” he stated.
He criticized the current administration for what he termed a lack of urgency, adding that “for too long, this government has looked away while Nigerians bear the burden of bad policies and rising insecurity. We cannot continue like this.”
Hayatu-Deen’s campaign is built on his four-decade career in the private sector, where he gained a reputation for reviving failing institutions and driving economic growth.
He believes this background makes him the right fit for the presidency, noting that “Nigeria needs a calm and steady leader, someone who understands how to fix systems, create jobs, and secure lives and livelihoods. That is the leadership I offer.”
He also emphasized the importance of education and social investment, particularly for children in regions heavily affected by conflict and instability.
As the 2027 contest draws closer, Hayatu-Deen has called on members of the ADC to remain united, describing internal cohesion as the key to defeating the incumbent party.
“Our strength lies in our unity. Nigerians are looking for a credible alternative, and the ADC must rise to that moment,” he said.
He concluded his declaration by inviting Nigerians to support his quest for a better future, saying, “Together, we can offer a real path forward, one that secures our country, grows our economy, and restores hope to our people. Join me. Let us build a Nigeria that works again, for everyone.”
