Kwankwaso: Southern presidency in 2027 will strengthen national cohesion

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state, says zoning the presidential ticket of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to southern Nigeria in 2027 will strengthen national cohesion and equity.

In a post on X, the former presidential candidate described the recently concluded NDC convention as historic and commended party members for what he called a display of unity and commitment to democracy.

“The event brought together party members from across the country in a powerful display of unity and a shared commitment to deepening democracy in Nigeria,” he wrote.

Kwankwaso said he fully supported the party’s decision to zone its presidential ticket to the south for a single four-year term.

“I wholeheartedly endorsed the party’s bold decision to zone its presidential ticket to Southern Nigeria for a four-year term, a move that strengthens national cohesion and equity,” he said.

The former Kano governor also commended Senator Seriake Dickson, former governor of Bayelsa state and national leader of the NDC, for organising the convention.

“I commend the National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, for delivering a well-organised and impactful convention,” he wrote.

Kwankwaso also appreciated Peter Obi and members of the Obidient Movement for participating in the event.

“I also extend my sincere appreciation to fellow party members, particularly my brother, His Excellency Peter Obi, and the Obidient Movement, for adding colour and enthusiasm to the occasion,” he said.

Kwankwaso said members of the party remained committed to restoring hope and promoting unity across the country.

“Together, we will restore hope, promote unity, and deliver a better future for our nation,” he added.
