Jigawa Govt Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Mark Islamic New Year
The Jigawa State Government has declared Tuesday, June 16, 2026, a public holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year, 1448 AH.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Head of the State Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, and signed by the Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service, Isma’ila Ibrahim Dutse.
According to the statement, the public holiday is aimed at allowing civil servants and residents of the state to participate in activities marking the Islamic New Year and reflect on its spiritual importance.
Dagaceri urged workers and the people of the state to use the occasion to pray for sustained peace, unity, and prosperity in Jigawa State.
He also encouraged residents to uphold the teachings of Islam and emulate the virtues and exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Head of Service further called on citizens to remain law-abiding and refrain from actions capable of disrupting the peace and harmony currently enjoyed in the state.
The state government expressed optimism that the new Islamic year would inspire greater commitment to moral values, peaceful coexistence, and collective development among the people of Jigawa.
